Status Defintions


Status: Is the definition of the property in regard to its legal status.

Titled: Means the same as the USA in terms of ownership. Its registered in the central Panamanian registry of properties and property taxes are payable.

ROP: Stands for "Rights of Possession". This is where the land is available under long term rights granted by the Government of Panama for the use of the land. Primarily this applies to coastal properties and islands.

Titleable: This means lands that have Rights of Possession attached to them and depending on usage it may be possible to apply for and receive title from the Government. One common usage value is touristic enterprises of all shapes and sizes.

Concessions: ( Applied for ) These are definitive usage applications for areas over the water or on ROP land that are then registered to the owners. An example would be a jetty on a coastal property. Its common practice to apply for the concession and then build the structure. (see below.)

Concessions: ( Granted ) These are concessions that have been given a registry number and are documented on the property. Many concessions have been in the system for 5-6-and even 10 years so in many cases the structure is in existence long before the registry is documented.
